The catering team at Flint House made sure that the Year of the Snake was off to a great start this week by decorating the dining room and cooking up a feast.
Patients were treated to a vast array of Chinese inspired food, including Sriracha Spiced Pork, Katsu Tofu, Spring Rolls, Asian Slaw and Prawn Crackers, all served with a smile by the kitchen team. The dining room had a few extra features to mark the day too with fortune cookies and decorative red lanterns put up by the dining room team. Red is the colour of joy and good fortune in Chinese culture and it certainly brought joy to what has been quite a wet, windy and grey month so far.
The Year of the Snake represents growth and flexibility and it is said that people born within a Year of the Snake are resilient and courageous – all key elements that are reflected in the culture and purpose of Flint House. Whether it is being encouraged to stand up tall in balance class, stretch out in Pilates, talk through the tools that help us be resilient both mentally and physically or have the courage to ask for help when you need it, Flint House is a safe space in which to bring those characteristics to the fore.
